If your home is in a designated ‘bushfire prone area’ in Victoria, it has been a requirement since 2009 to undergo a BAL Assessment. Every home construction, either new, extended or renovated in these areas must have their construction inspected and assessed.
The BAL Assessment has six standards that rate a property from low through to extreme risk. These are:
- BAL-LOW
- BAL-12.5Th
- BAL-19
- BAL-29
- BAl-40
- BAL-FZ (Flame Zone).
